Bread bakers provide the Eucharistic bread that is distributed at Mass. The pride and humility a baker experiences when the bread is consecrated during the Mass are truly moving. Each volunteer is asked to bake once a month. During the Easter Triduum and Christmas seasons, a baker may be asked to provide bread for a second Mass.
The bread is very easy to make. It involves no yeast - just flour, salt, and sparkling water. It takes about one hour to make 4 loaves, the amount needed for a typical Mass. Each new member will watch a demonstration while enjoying coffee and pastry.
There is no formal meeting schedule. Bakers are contacted through their mailboxes at the church, or by e-mail. Anyone who is interested in deepening his or her faith by taking a larger part in the celebration of the Mass is welcome!
